as they become available. Fixes the test in in the previous commit and
also means that inputs are properly recorded, something that's always
been unavailable for subworkflow invocations.
When a parent workflow has an optional input that is connected to a
subworkflow's input but no data is provided, and the subworkflow uses
delayed scheduling the workflow would fail with output_not_found errors.
Root cause: The parent's optional input step hadn't executed yet when
the subworkflow tried to access its output value.
Fix: Pre-populate input step outputs with their values (or NO_REPLACEMENT
for unprovided optional inputs) before executing workflow steps. Modified
set_outputs_for_input() to preserve these pre-populated values and handle
NO_REPLACEMENT recovery on subsequent scheduling iterations.
As discussed with David Lopez, the hugging face highlight is not very discoverable as of this release. Instead though, the short-term storage expiration indicator highlight really does deserve a place in these user facing notes.
