* Move configuration from lib/service to lib/service/servicecfg
The new servicecfg package will hold only configuration for services.
This will allow other packages (like tctl and tsh) to depend on
servicecfg without pulling in all of lib/service (which has a number
of platform-specific details).
This is the first step towards being able to build tctl for Windows.
* Move PAM and BPF config into servicecfg
This breaks a compile-time dependency on BPF/PAM for tctl.
* Add check on apiserver upserUser to ensure all roles on user exist
* Move role check on upsert user to client side
* Move user role checks on upsert to tctl
* Add err to message about missing role
This change adds a --set flag to tctl users update for every trait where it wasn't implemented already (Windows logins, Kube users/groups, DB users/names, and AWS role ARNs).
This change:
- adds the --set-logins flag to tctl users update, similar to --set-roles
- adds a hint to tsh ls about missing principals when no nodes are found
Part of https://github.com/gravitational/teleport/issues/13783.
* WebAPI: update user traits
Web API only supports updating the roles property for a given User.
This PR adds the possibility of updating User's traits
- Logins
- DB Users
- DB Names
- Kube Users
- Kube Groups
- Windows Logins
- AWS Role ARNs
It only updates if the requests contains a non-nil value for the trait's
list.
It deduplicates the trait's list before applying it.
Make tctl users update visible and tweak language to match other commands.
* Make the `tctl users update` command visible
* Update public docs
* Document that --set-roles replaces the user roles
- Add --windows-logins flag to tctl users add command
- Support {{internal.windows_logins}} and external traits from IDP
This allows one to define a role allowing desktop access without
hard coding all allowed/denied Windows logins.
Updates #7761Fixes#8578
Fixes#5708
OSS users loose connection to leaf clusters after upgrade of the root cluster (but not leaf clusters).
Teleport 6.0 switches users to ossuser role, this breaks implicit cluster mapping of admin to admin users.
The fix downgrades admin role to be less privileged in OSS.
Implements RFD #7https://github.com/gravitational/teleport/blob/master/rfd/0007-rbac-oss.md
OSS users can use roles. Some FedRamp related role options
are limited to enterprise.
All users are migrated to a new role "ossuser".
This role is a limited access role downgrading all users
from OSS role "admin".
All trusted clusters are mapped to "ossuser" as well.
Github connector maps teams to generated roles.
For transition period, format `tctl users add alice` works
alongside with `tctl users add alice --roles=admin`, but prints
a warning.
* Clean up reset token printing logic, make text the default format.
* Add comment and fix default for switch statement.
* Alter reset password token print format to be case insensitive.
* Check if user exists before creating/updating to return clearer error message
* Remove unnecessary checking if user exists before creating
* When creating user, set CreatedBy if not set by original caller

* Support resource-based bootstrapping for backend.
Outside of static configuration, most of the persistent state of an
auth server exists as a collection of resources, stored in its
backend. The resource API also forms the basis of Teleport's more
advanced dynamic configuration options.
This commit extends the usefulness of the resource API by adding
the ability to bootstrap backend state with a set of previously
exported resources. This allows the resource API to serve as a
rudimentary backup/migration tool.
Notes: This features is a work in progress, and very easy to misuse;
while it will prevent you from overwriting the state of an existing
auth server, it won't stop you from bootstrapping into a wildly
misconfigured state. In general, resource-based bootstrapping is
not a complete solution for backup or migration.
* update e-ref
This commit introduced mutual TLS authentication
for auth server API server.
Auth server multiplexes HTTP over SSH - existing
protocol and HTTP over TLS - new protocol
on the same listening socket.
Nodes and users authenticate with 2.5.0 Teleport
using TLS mutual TLS except backwards-compatibility
cases.
goterm had no license, I quickly replaced it with our own little table
formatter.
also rewrote some tsh commands, that were using home-made formatting, to
the new table, so the output is now much nicer.
