Nicola Soranzo b09b7d53ce Write unicode strings to files opened with io.open(path, w, encoding=utf-8)
Otherwise under Python2 the following exception is raised:
```
$ python2
Python 2.7.17 (default, Nov  7 2019, 10:07:09)
[GCC 7.4.0] on linux2

>>> import io
>>> with io.open('foo.txt', 'w', encoding='utf-8') as fh:
...     fh.write('foo')

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 2, in <module>
TypeError: write() argument 1 must be unicode, not str
```
