Behavior Tree

A behavior tree is a hierarchical control structure used to define complex NPC behaviors through composable nodes. Internal nodes like sequences, selectors, and decorators control the flow of execution, while leaf nodes represent individual actions or conditions. Behavior trees are more modular and easier to extend than large state machines and are widely used in commercial game AI.
