Restitution

Restitution, or the coefficient of restitution, describes how much kinetic energy is preserved after a collision between two objects. A value of 1 represents a perfectly elastic collision with no energy loss, while 0 represents a perfectly inelastic collision where objects do not bounce. Physics engines use the restitution values of the two colliding materials to compute the post-collision velocity response.
