The environment-variable and secret-injection tests still ran each SSH command through the host's configured shell after #27803 gave each check its own session. Startup files could stop the command before it printed a value. Use noninteractive `/bin/sh` or `cmd.exe /d` for these fixtures and print values directly, preserving real SSH execution, parallel sessions, and environment precedence checks. Controlled startup-file experiments failed all nine checks before this change and passed afterward. The updated tests also passed 50 repetitions on Linux and macOS. This removes a demonstrated host-shell dependency, though the exact cause of the September Linux timeout was not reproduced.
