Ethan 0ac23e3ee1 feat: add per-template Coder Agents access control (#27285)
Relates to CODAGT-713

Depends on #27284

This makes the per-template `agents_allowed` field authoritative in the API and chatd. It adds optional create and metadata update fields with the intended default and omission semantics, supports `agents-allowed:` template search, includes the value in telemetry, and makes `list_templates`, `read_template`, and `create_workspace` read the template row directly. Existing-workspace retries remain idempotent, and blocked same-organisation templates return an actionable message.

The experimental `/template-allowlist` routes remain temporarily because the shipped AI Settings page still calls them, but they no longer control chatd enforcement. #27514 moves that page to per-template metadata, #27515 removes the legacy storage, routes, SDK types, and utility, #27517 adds the CLI flags, and #27518 updates the platform controls documentation for the per-template model, directly addressing CRF-5 and CRF-6. The stack is intended to merge as a unit.

Michael Suchacz 6b8f820493 feat: remove native chat cost tracking in favor of AI Gateway cost data (#27330)
## Stack Context

This stack makes AI Gateway data and budgets the source of truth for AI
spend controls.

1. Re-back the per-chat cost endpoint with AI Gateway data (#27328,
merged).
2. Remove native chat usage limits (#27329, merged).
3. **This PR, now based on `main`:** remove native chat cost tracking
and its dedicated admin UI.

## Summary

Removes native per-message price calculation, model pricing fields, cost
persistence, aggregate cost queries, and admin cost API types. It also
deletes the Analytics and Spend pages plus their legacy redirects. The
AI Gateway-backed per-chat cost row and compact budget indicators
remain.

The spend documentation is renamed to `spend-management.md` and updated
for the remaining surfaces, group budget APIs, CSV export, upgrade
handling for native pricing and cost history, and the absence of a
deployment-wide spend dashboard. The per-chat cost API documents that
data follows AI Gateway retention and reports zero after all matching
requests are purged.

No schema is dropped in this release. `chat_messages.total_cost_micros`
remains nullable and unwritten so replicas from the previous release can
continue inserting messages during rolling upgrades. #27600 tracks
removal after the compatibility window.

Zach 85984ff142 feat: add enable/disable support for user secrets (#27537)
Users can now disable a secret to stop it from being injected into
workspaces without deleting it, and re-enable it later. Disabled secrets
stay visible and editable everywhere they already appear.

An enabled secret must have at least one injection target; a secret with
no target can be stored only while disabled. Existing target-less secrets
are migrated to disabled to preserve current behavior.

Support spans the REST API, SDK, CLI, dashboard, and audit log.

Ethan d0e67a74d5 chore: report Coder Agents experiments in telemetry (#27042)
Closes CODAGT-352

This adds the Coder Agents experiments (virtual desktop with computer
use, and the advisor) to telemetry, so they finally show up in each
deployment snapshot. Everything stays inside `coderd/telemetry/`.

## Shape received by the telemetry server

The experiments are reported as a single `agents_experiments` field on
the deployment record, alongside the other config-derived deployment
fields. Its value is one JSON blob with one top-level key per
experiment:

```json
{
  "virtual_desktop": {
    "enabled": false,
    "computer_use": {"provider": "anthropic", "provider_source": "default"}
  },
  "advisor": {"enabled": true, "max_uses_per_run": 5, "max_output_tokens": 4096, "provider": "openai", "model": "gpt-5.2"}
}
```

When the advisor falls back to the chat model, either because no
override is set or because the configured override is inactive (its
config or provider was deleted or disabled), the provider and model
carry a sentinel instead:

```json
"advisor": {"enabled": true, "max_uses_per_run": 5, "max_output_tokens": 4096, "provider": "advisor_reuse_chat_model", "model": "advisor_reuse_chat_model"}
```

- `virtual_desktop.enabled` and `advisor.enabled` track the
`chat-virtual-desktop` and `chat-advisor` deployment experiments, not
the stored config. We ignore the stored advisor `enabled` flag on
purpose: since #26809 the runtime gates on the experiment, and the
stored flag ends up permanently true for any deployment that ever opened
the settings form.
- Computer use sits under `virtual_desktop` rather than as its own
top-level key because it isn't a separate experiment; the same
`chat-virtual-desktop` flag gates both the desktop and the computer-use
provider. `provider_source` says whether an admin picked the provider
(`configured`) or we fell back to the default (`default`).
- `advisor.provider` is the `ai_providers` type (e.g. `openai`,
`anthropic`, `azure`) and `advisor.model` is the configured model
string. Two sentinels stand in when there's no concrete value:
`advisor_reuse_chat_model` when the advisor has no active override and
falls back to the chat model (matching the runtime), and `unknown` when
we genuinely couldn't tell, e.g. a query failed or the stored config
wouldn't parse.
- `advisor.max_uses_per_run` and `advisor.max_output_tokens` are clamped
to 0 before reporting, matching how the API normalizes these values on
read.

## Why this shape

Putting the data on the deployment record keeps it next to the other
config-derived fields, and leaves `telemetry_items` as a faithful mirror
of the `telemetry_items` table rather than a place we inject synthetic
rows. Adding or removing an experiment is a one-line edit to the
`agentsExperiments` registry. The `agents_experiments` field itself
never changes; only the JSON inside it does. The field is `omitempty`,
so older Coder versions that don't emit it are distinguishable from a
real absence, and when an experiment isn't reported in a snapshot its
JSON path is simply missing, so queries can tell "not reported" apart
from a real `false`.

One key holding one JSON blob is also easier to query than many separate
fields. Because everything lives in one blob, a question like "of the
deployments running the desktop, how many changed the computer-use
provider?" is one query with no join:

```sql
SELECT
  JSON_VALUE(agents_experiments, '$.virtual_desktop.computer_use.provider_source') AS src,
  COUNT(*) AS deployments
FROM deployments
WHERE JSON_VALUE(agents_experiments, '$.virtual_desktop.enabled') = 'true'
GROUP BY src
```

Michael Suchacz 6f6d7539c8 feat: remove unused chat statuses pending, paused, and completed (#27064)
The chatd state machine only recognizes `waiting`, `running`, `error`,
`requires_action`, and `interrupting`. Remove the unused `pending`,
`paused`, and `completed` values from the database enum, backend, SDK,
frontend, generated queries, and API docs.

Migration `000543_chat_status_remove_unused` remaps existing `pending`
rows to `running`, remaps `paused` and `completed` rows to `waiting`,
drops the obsolete `idx_chats_pending` index, and recreates
`chats_expanded` around the enum swap. It also removes the dead
`AcquireChats` query and all remaining query literals for the deleted
statuses.

**NOTE**: The enum swap can break chat queries from older replicas
during a mixed-version rollout because they still reference
`'pending'::chat_status`. Chats are experimental, so this PR accepts
that limited rollout window instead of adding a two-release expand and
contract sequence.

Mathias Fredriksson 047c47495b refactor: drop chat_model_configs provider column (#26877)
The provider type already lives authoritatively in ai_providers.type,
reachable on every active row through ai_provider_id, which the
chat_model_configs_ai_provider_required_when_active CHECK makes
mandatory. The stored provider string was a denormalized copy the system
kept in sync with a startup backfill and no longer needs.

Every surface now derives provider type from the linked ai_providers
row. Telemetry is the one exception: it keeps emitting provider, now
sourced from ai_providers.type via a JOIN, so the BigQuery column and the
Nexus dashboards that read it are unaffected. The experimental HTTP/SDK
response drops provider and makes ai_provider_id required, since those
endpoints return only active configs; consumers resolve provider type
from ai_provider_id and the AI providers listing.

This ships in a single release with no compatibility window: production
reads the table via SELECT *, so a pre-drop binary fails config reads the
moment the column is gone. Operators must scale to zero before upgrading,
and there is no rollback.

Susana Ferreira 56373a09fc chore: rename user-facing AI Bridge strings to AI Gateway (#26700)
Rename user-facing "AI Bridge" strings to "AI Gateway" in deployment
config, RBAC display names, log messages, error strings, docs style
guide, and Grafana dashboard README.

Deprecated option names and descriptions (the `--aibridge-*` block) are
intentionally kept as "AI Bridge". The `Name` field cannot be renamed
because `serpent` uses it as a unique key during JSON serialization;
duplicating names causes `UnmarshalJSON` failures (e.g. in the support
bundle). Descriptions also stay as "AI Bridge" to avoid confusion
between the deprecated and primary options.

Steven Masley 84350e4e7c feat: report SCIM configuration on Deployment (#26628)
Adds two nullable booleans to `telemetry.Deployment`:

- `SCIMEnabled`: `true` when `CODER_SCIM_AUTH_HEADER` is set.
- `SCIMUseLegacy`: `true` when `CODER_SCIM_USE_LEGACY` is set.

Both mirror `Deployment.IDPOrgSync`: nullable for backward
compatibility, and report configuration state rather than license
entitlement (#16323).

Lives on `Deployment` rather than `Snapshot` so the existing
`bqDeployment` table on `coder/coder-telemetry-server` gets two columns
instead of a new table.

`SCIMAPIKey` is annotated as a secret and is scrubbed by
`WithoutSecrets` before the config reaches telemetry, so
`DeploymentConfig.SCIMAPIKey` is always empty in production. The
booleans are pre-computed from the pre-scrub `DeploymentValues` in
`cli/server.go` and passed in via `telemetry.Options.SCIMEnabled` /
`SCIMUseLegacy`.

Pairs with
[coder/coder-telemetry-server#43](https://github.com/coder/coder-telemetry-server/pull/43),
which adds the matching `bqDeployment` columns and the manual BigQuery
`ALTER TABLE` step.

Zach b221632615 fix: wipe user secrets when user is soft-deleted (#24985)
Extend the delete_deleted_user_resources() trigger so that secrets
belonging to a soft-deleted user are removed in the same transaction as
the existing api_keys and user_links cleanup.

user_secrets.user_id has ON DELETE CASCADE, but Coder soft-deletes users
by flipping users.deleted rather than removing the row, so the foreign key
cascade never fires and secrets would otherwise survive deletion.

Zach 1b2a1af097 feat: report user secrets adoption summary in telemetry (#24854)
Add a deployment-wide user secrets summary to the telemetry snapshot so
we can track adoption of user secrets
The summary reports:

- A breakdown of secrets by which injection fields are populated:
EnvNameOnly, FilePathOnly, Both, Neither
- The distribution of secrets per user (max, p25, p50, p75, p90)

All metrics are scoped to active non-system users. Soft-deleted users
are excluded. The percentile distribution is computed across the entire
active non-system user base, including users with zero secrets, so the
percentiles reflect deployment-wide adoption.

Dean Sheather 4ba74dcdc8 feat(coderd): add PR status summary to telemetry snapshots (#24379)
Adds aggregate PR counts (total, open, merged, closed) from
`chat_diff_statuses` to telemetry snapshots, giving visibility into AI
agent PR outcomes across deployments.

The existing telemetry system reports `Chats`, `ChatMessageSummaries`,
and `ChatModelConfigs`, but had no PR-level data. This adds a
`ChatDiffStatusSummary` field to the `Snapshot` struct with four
all-time counts derived from a single aggregate query.

<details>
<summary>Implementation details</summary>

- New SQL query `GetChatDiffStatusSummary` counts `chat_diff_statuses`
rows with non-NULL `pull_request_state`, grouped by state
(open/merged/closed).
- `ChatDiffStatusSummary` struct added to telemetry `Snapshot`,
collected via a parallel `eg.Go()` block in `createSnapshot()`.
- `dbauthz` wrapper uses `rbac.ResourceSystem` (telemetry-only pattern).
- Test covers both empty state (zero counts) and populated state (mixed
states + NULL-state exclusion).

Dean Sheather 3452ab3166 chore: add client_type field to chats and telemetry (#24342)
Add a `chat_client_type` enum (`ui` | `api`) and `client_type` column to
the `chats` table. The column defaults to `api` for new rows so API
callers don't need to set it explicitly. Existing rows are backfilled to
`ui`.

The field flows through `CreateChatRequest`, `chatd.CreateOptions`,
`InsertChat`, and is returned in the `Chat` response via `db2sdk`.

<details>
<summary>Implementation notes (Coder Agents generated)</summary>

### Changes

**Database migration (000469)**
- New enum `chat_client_type` with values `ui`, `api`.
- New `client_type` column, `NOT NULL DEFAULT 'api'`.
- Backfill: `UPDATE chats SET client_type = 'ui'`.

**SQL query** — `InsertChat` now includes `client_type`.

**SDK** — `ChatClientType` type added; `ClientType` field added to both
`CreateChatRequest` (optional, defaults server-side to `api`) and `Chat`
response.

**Handler** — `postChats` maps the request field (defaulting to `api`)
and passes it through `chatd.CreateOptions`.

**Sub-agent** — Child chats inherit their parent's `client_type`.

**db2sdk** — Maps the database value to the SDK type.

### Decision log
- Default is `api` (not `ui`) so existing API integrations get the
correct value without code changes.
- Backfill sets existing rows to `ui` per requirement.
- Child chats inherit `client_type` from parent rather than defaulting.

Kyle Carberry c5d720f73d feat(coderd): add telemetry for agents chats and messages (#24068)
Adds telemetry collection for the agents chat system (`/agents`) to the
existing telemetry snapshot pipeline.

Three new snapshot fields:
- **`Chats`** — per-chat metadata (id, owner, status, mode,
workspace_id, root_chat_id, has_parent, archived, model config)
collected time-windowed via `createdAfter`
- **`ChatMessageSummaries`** — per-chat aggregated message metrics
(counts by role, token sums by type, cost, runtime, model count,
compression count) collected time-windowed
- **`ChatModelConfigs`** — model configuration metadata (provider,
model, context limit, enabled, default) collected as full dump

No PII is included — titles, message content, and URLs are excluded at
the SQL level. Only structural metadata flows through telemetry.

<details><summary>Implementation plan</summary>

### SQL Queries (`coderd/database/queries/chats.sql`)
- `GetChatsCreatedAfter` — time-windowed chat metadata
- `GetChatMessageSummariesPerChat` — per-chat message aggregates via
`GROUP BY`
- `GetChatModelConfigsForTelemetry` — full dump of model configs

### Telemetry (`coderd/telemetry/telemetry.go`)
- `Chat`, `ChatMessageSummary`, `ChatModelConfig` structs
- `ConvertChat`, `ConvertChatMessageSummary`, `ConvertChatModelConfig`
conversion functions
- Three `eg.Go()` blocks in `createSnapshot()` following the existing
collection pattern

### Authorization (`coderd/database/dbauthz/dbauthz.go`)
- System-only access for all three queries via `rbac.ResourceSystem`

### Tests
- `TestChatsTelemetry` in `coderd/telemetry/telemetry_test.go` — creates
chats (root + child), messages with token/cost data, model configs;
verifies all snapshot fields
- dbauthz test entries for all three queries in
`coderd/database/dbauthz/dbauthz_test.go`

  - cache_write_input_tokens (BIGINT, default 0)

Migration backfills existing rows by extracting values from the metadata
JSONB column (cache_read_input, input_cached, prompt_cached for reads
(max value selected since only 1 should be set), cache_creation_input
for writes).

All references to data from metadata were updated to reference new
columns. No other changes then changing where data is extracted from.

George K 103967ed02 feat: add sharing info to /workspaces endpoint (#21049)
closes: https://github.com/coder/internal/issues/858

Similar to https://github.com/coder/coder/pull/19375, this one uses
system permissions for fetching actual user and group data.

Modifies the `workspaces_expanded` view to fetch the required data; this way it's made available to all code paths that make use of it.

Also fixes a bug in a test helper function that can result in `null` being saved to the DB for `user_acl` or `group_acl` and break tests; a defensive check constraint that prevents this is worth a PR, e.g:

`ALTER TABLE workspaces
   ADD CONSTRAINT group_acl_is_object CHECK (jsonb_typeof(group_acl) = 'object');`

Also adds missing `OwnerName` in `ConvertWorkspaceRows`.

https://github.com/coder/internal/issues/1020. The first commit removes
uses from tests, with the exception of one test that is tightly coupled
to the default client. The second commit makes easy/low-risk removals
from application code. This should have some impact to reduce test flakiness.

Ethan d7bdb3cdef ci: add paralleltestctx to lint/go (#19369)
Closes https://github.com/coder/internal/issues/884

We're adding this as a `go run` in `lint/go` for now, since adding it to
golangci-lint ourselves involves recompiling golangci-lint and then
running that new binary. I'll look into proposing it being added to the
public golangci-lint linters.

Doesn't appear to cause the lint ci job to take any longer, which is
nice.

Danny Kopping bc83de2a72 feat: add prebuilt workspaces telemetry (#18084)
Adds telemetry for a _global_ account of prebuilt workspaces created,
failed to build, and claimed.

Partitioning this data by template/preset tuple is not currently in
scope.

Hugo Dutka f825477a5c fix: add timeouts to test telemetry snapshot (#17879)
This PR ensures that waits on channels will time out according to the
test context, rather than waiting indefinitely. This should alleviate
the panic seen in https://github.com/coder/internal/issues/645 and, if
the deadlock recurs, allow the test to be retried automatically in CI.

Danny KoppingandSas Swart 4c33846f6d chore: add prebuilds system user (#16916)
Pre-requisite for https://github.com/coder/coder/pull/16891

Closes https://github.com/coder/internal/issues/515

This PR introduces a new concept of a "system" user.

Our data model requires that all workspaces have an owner (a `users`
relation), and prebuilds is a feature that will spin up workspaces to be
claimed later by actual users - and thus needs to own the workspaces in
the interim.

Naturally, introducing a change like this touches a few aspects around
the codebase and we've taken the approach _default hidden_ here; in
other words, queries for users will by default _exclude_ all system
users, but there is a flag to ensure they can be displayed. This keeps
the changeset relatively small.

This user has minimal permissions (it's equivalent to a `member` since
it has no roles). It will be associated with the default org in the
initial migration, and thereafter we'll need to somehow ensure its
membership aligns with templates (which are org-scoped) for which it'll
need to provision prebuilds; that's a solution we'll have in a
subsequent PR.

Hugo Dutka 24f3445e00 chore: track workspace resource monitors in telemetry (#16776)
Addresses https://github.com/coder/nexus/issues/195. Specifically, just
the "tracking templates" requirement:

> ## Tracking in templates
> To enable resource alerts, a user must add the resource_monitoring
block to a template's coder_agent resource. We'd like to track if
customers have any resource monitoring enabled on a per-deployment
basis. Even better, we could identify which templates are using resource
monitoring.

Hugo Dutka a68d11506c chore: track disabled telemetry (#16347)
Addresses https://github.com/coder/nexus/issues/116.

## Core Concept

Send one final telemetry report after the user disables telemetry with
the message that the telemetry was disabled. No other information about
the deployment is sent in this report.

This final report is submitted only if the deployment ever had telemetry
on.

## Changes

1. Refactored how our telemetry is initialized.
2. Introduced the `TelemetryEnabled` telemetry item, which allows to
decide whether a final report should be sent.
3. Added the `RecordTelemetryStatus` telemetry method, which decides
whether a final report should be sent and updates the telemetry item.
4. Added tests to ensure the implementation is correct.
